Students of the MSc program in Data Science which choose the specialization “Data Science for official statistics and business analytics” will be awarded of the label “European Master in Official Statistics (EMOS)”.

EMOS, initiated in 2014 by Eurostat and the European Statistical System (ESS), serves to bridge the gap between producers of official statistics and academia at the European level. This collaborative effort between universities and data producers aims to integrate official statistics into statistical curricula, address training and recruitment requirements within the ESS, and establish a reservoir of highly educated professional statisticians for both the ESS and the European System of Central Banks (ESCB)

Eurostat manages the EMOS network as a joint undertaking of universities and their partners in national statistical institutes, central banks, other national statistical authorities, international organisations and other partner organisations producing or dealing with statistics and data. It is a joint project of universities and data producers in Europe, with a network of 33 programmes in 17 countries.

From 2023, University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" is part of the EMOS network through the MSc in Data Science.

The EMOS network promotes numerous engaging initiatives, including webinars on specific scientific topics; an online job marketplace where representatives from national statistical institutes, national central banks, Eurostat, the European Central Bank, international organizations, and EMOS universities share vacancies; workshops where members of the EMOS community exchange views, experiences, and ideas; opportunities for internships and placements, collaborations on research and thesis projects, and sharing coursework among EMOS partners.
