It is logistically articulated on two locations: one inside the scientific hub of Viale Lincoln, in Caserta, the other inside the CIRCE-exCIAPI area,  Viale Carlo III 153 , S. Nicola La Strada (Ce).

The Department promotes and coordinates research and teaching in Mathematics, Physics, Computer and Data Science. Basic and applied research activities give to the Department of Mathematics and Physics a strong scientific connotation, corroborated by the profitable interaction with other national and international Research Institutions and Structures.

The Department of Mathematics and Physics has a close connection with INFN (National Institute for Nuclear Physics), INRIM (National Institute of Metrological Research), INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology), INDAM (National Institute of High Mathematics), CNR (National Research Council), INAF (National Institute for Astrophysics), CMCC (Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change) and ISTAT (Italian National Institute of Statistics), CIRA (Italian Aerospace Research Centre). Moreover, the Department of Mathematics and Physics has established strong collaborations with several university departments in Italy and abroad.

The Department offers bachelor's degree programs in Mathematics, in Physics and in Data Analytics, the latter in English and in collaboration with the University of Paris Sorbonne Nord. 

Graduate students can deepen their knowledge in the master's degree programs in Mathematics, in Physics and, in Data Science. The Ph.D. Program in Mathematics, Physics and Applications for Engineering completes the rich educational offering of the Department of Mathematics and Physics.
